Greetings from Future Medicine Now!
The following health issue is something you may want to know about. Especially those of you to whom I have prescribed bioidentical hormones may wish to act in a timely manner.
Bioidentical hormones are of primary importance to those who experience hormonal imbalances which have not been corrected without hormone replacement therapy. Women are not the only beneficiaries of hormone replacement therapy. Men experiencing andropause can experience profound health improvements from hormonal supplementation.
Over the past few years, studies have clearly shown what many of us have known all along — natural hormones, identical to those produced by the body, are far safer and healthier treatment options than synthetic hormones produced in the laboratories of pharmaceutical companies.
On October 6, 2005 the pharmaceutical giant Wyeth filed a Citizen Petition with the FDA which could greatly limit women in their access to bioidentical hormones. Wyeth manufactures Premarin, a synthetic hormone drug made from the urine of pregnant horses. Premarin was the subject of research which shocked the healthcare community when the study was discontinued because the effects of Premarin were producing unacceptably harmful results to women in the study. Those results included increased risk of stroke, breast cancer, heart attacks, and circulatory disease. When the study was published, sales of Wyeth's drugs plummeted from $1.3 billion in 2002, to $880 million in 2004.
In a most hypocritical move, Wyeth is now leaning on the FDA to severely limit access to bio-identical hormones, which have long been approved as a safe, beneficial therapy. If you'd like to let the FDA know your position on this cynical attempt to undermine your health freedom, simply go to http://www.citizens.org/preserve-access-to-bhrt and click "Take Action."
Thanks for contributing to the preservation of our health rights.
Much Love,
Dr. Larry Horton
