Prix Fixe

Home > Our Menu > Prix Fixe

Prix Fixe (prē fēks) is the name we have chosen to describe the comprehensive approach offered by Dr. Horton since he began practice fifteen years ago.

This menu item is a good choice for…

  • Clients who prefer a private setting for their treatment;
  • Those individuals with complex cases or advanced pathology;
  • Someone desiring more extensive interaction with their physician;
  • Those who will require in depth orchestration of their treatment;
  • Someone who wants access to all of Oriental Medicine’s many modalities at once;
  • Clients who wish to take advantage of cutting edge approaches in Oriental Medicine.

Here’s the format

Your first time visit includes a two hour exploration of the details of your condition from the viewpoint of both Oriental Medicine and western science (not conventional medicine). We’ll go over your history, your current condition, your goals and expectations, and your level of commitment to changing your condition.

Lab tests may be ordered.

You will receive relevant physical examination (both Oriental and western), diagnosis, and an initial prognosis.

This takes a lot of time. Realistically, it often deserves more than two hours.

So, if your case is complex, and/or your situation requires a great deal of initial redirection, you may or may not receive actual treatment during the initial visit. Sometimes there are more important things to do than initiate acupuncture, for instance. Your immediate circumstances will dictate what transpires in those two hours.

If time allows, treatment, as well as guidance for your participation will be included.

Although Dr. Horton will be gathering information from you, you can count on receiving more information than can easily be assimilated in one sitting. For this purpose you are provided a pen and an introductory booklet in which to take notes. There is a steep learning curve to understanding Oriental Medicine, and it is important that you understand what we’re trying to accomplish.

This is not cookbook medicine. What transpires in one client’s initial visit may be totally unrecognizable to another client. Oriental Medicine doesn’t treat disease — it treats individuals. The intention is to make your two hours as productive as possible.

That’s why it’s called “prix fixe” — you’re paying a fixed price for two hours of undivided attention to getting your condition turned around. Following visits are usually one hour.

A Wealth of Resources

Of course, Oriental Medicine is the cornerstone of Dr. Horton’s practice — the perspective from which he views a client's condition.

Since graduating in 1994, Dr. Horton’s studies have never ceased. Nor have they been confined to what was practiced in ancient China. The study of Oriental Medicine is an inexhaustable wellspring of discovery. But just as modern physics is finding itself coming into full circle alignment with the knowledge of ancient sages, western science is unknowingly finding new techniques with the ability to attain the goals of Oriental Medicine in powerful new ways.

Western science is unaware of the relevance of their discoveries, but the astute student of Oriental Medicine cannot deny the reality of their clinical manifestations.

Consequently, the methods, technology, and medicinal substances Dr. Horton brings to bear on the client’s behalf are broad, and often available only to doctors legally qualified to practice these breakthroughs in the medicine.
