Greetings, from Future Medicine Now!

Ever notice how we get a little preview of autumn weather just about six weeks prior to its actual arrival? For a couple of days last week it was definitely autumn up here in the mountains.

Moving faster all the time, aren't we?

Á la Carte Acupuncture:
Now There's No Excuse

We are delighted to announce the first of several new healthcare offerings from Future Medicine Now. The move to our new office on Mesilla Street enabled us to create options which weren't previously possible at our old location. Since our opening on June 1st, Sue has realized a concept she's wanted to manifest for two years. This concept, appearing in a number of cities around the country, is variously known as "working class acupuncture" or "community based acupuncture". The "class" identification doesn't work for us, and since this is only one of several models of Oriental health care we offer, we call it "Á la Carte."

Á la Carte Acupuncture is a progressive model for both acupuncture treatment and payment. Here's how it works:

  • Cost of treatment is based on a sliding scale, making it possible for most anyone to afford the treatment they need, at a frequency which gets results. We provide the following guidelines; you choose your fee:

    • GROSS ANNUAL
      INCOME

      INITIAL VISIT
      FEE

      PER TREATMENT
      FEE

      < $25,000

      $30

      $15

      $25,000 - $35,000

      $40

      $15 - $20

      $35,000 - $50,000

      $50 - $60

      $20 - $30

      $50,000 +

      $70

      $30 - $40

  • Acupuncture is provided in comfortable reclining chairs, placed in small groups in the treatment rooms. We treat multiple clients per hour, to bring the cost of treatment to an affordable level.

  • Payment and scheduling activities are done prior to your treatment, so you can relax and not bother with such things when you leave. Stay as long as you like or until the end of the doctor's shift.

  • This approach has one objective only — making sure everyone gets all the acupuncture they need to get the job done. And it does that job so well that our jaws frequently drop in response to the outcomes our clients' experience.

Now there's no excuse. Effective acupuncture is available to anyone. More details are available by clicking here.

What's the Point?

Why spend the time, effort, and commitment to provide this service? Consider the following scenarios:

  • In China, when a client comes in, they generally have one complaint which needs attention. This client would receive acupuncture every day for a prescribed number of days — usually ten. This is how acupuncture is most effective. A second course would be prescribed if necessary, and so on. This is an example of a culture which understands how the medicine works and seeks it out.

  • Typically, when a client walks into Future Medicine Now, a veritable Gordian knot is at play — the adrenals, the gut, the immune system and probably more are in shambles from the onslaught of our stressful culture and our abysmal eating habits. In the west, a doctor of Oriental medicine normally prescribes treatment once or twice a week. This scenario is a reflection of fiscal expectations and cultural illusions, rather than an understanding of how the medicine works.

  • The western consumer of Oriental medicine clearly loses — and can't afford to lose. Á la Carte is one more tool in our pocket to change that — and it's working!
  •

    Everything has changed
    Nothing has changed

Our goals are the same as they have always been: to bring functional wisdom and a highly efficacious form of medicine to a culture in sore need of these gifts. As mentioned above, previously available options are still available, and there are new and exciting ones in the making.

I still provide the entirety of Oriental medicine in a private, one-on-one setting for those who prefer this comprehensive approach. We call this service "Prix Fixe". Sometimes, conditions call for a mix and match approach.

One-on-one herbal consultations are also available from us both.

    Carte Blanche

On the horizon is "Carte Blanche", an annually prepaid plan of true health maintenance, available to individuals and families who hold good health in high esteem. How can an HMO offer its namesake when couched in a framework which knows neither what defines good health, nor how to obtain it — much less how to maintain it? Great concept, impossible to implement within the paradigm of conventional allopathic medicine.

The Carte Blanche option has the advantages of savings as well as access to cutting edge testing, treatment, guidance, and personalized care when you need it. We plan to eventually add affordable catastrophic care coverage to this option. Those individuals who are making intelligent health choices should be receiving excellent rates for the minimal insurance they require. We're looking for a provider who recognizes this opportunity and would like to play.

You'll be the first to know when we're ready to roll out this option!

    State of the Office

    Oh, yeah. The Party...

We haven't forgotten. The physical reality of trying to remodel an office while inhabiting and working in it turns out to be more challenging than we imagined. We're still putting in seven day weeks. The end is at least in sight now, but it will be a while.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

    Much Love,
    Dr. Larry Horton
